MAMMOTH DETONATION 5.14.10
this year detonate brought the BOOM in their second year of snow jam. the party started in mammoth shredding the slopes, sledding the steep hills, and having one of the most epic midnight snowball wars a human has ever experienced. david, briana, and the rest of the detonate team made it a weekend to never be forgotten.
all 50+ of us piled into a charter bus and gawked at one of the most beautiful views ever!
our fearless leader, chiddlington steele III (as pastor jurgen calls him), is ready to rock at the early hour of 7am
SSSSNNNNNOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! it didnt take long for the snowballs to start flying
yes. you are seeing shekinah sledding off the roof of our house.
you are witnessing the only position the boys were in the entire trip..you could smell the testosterone down the street
after watching the fights, the boys decided to try their own moves...this went on for 10 minutes...
"look ma! i caught 'em by the nostrils"
eskimo kisses?? only for a bear!
group hug! obviously jesse's a bit concerned
our most amazing leader briana with gigi
ryan vs the girls...
we found an open plot of land with some sweet hills for sledding
dance party anyone?
we were so stoked to have vitamin water donate over 100 bottles of their smart water and vitamin water along with some sweet beanies. photo-liciousness definitely went down.
so much for mom telling us to not play in the street.
anthony is very excited to be free!!

POP-LOCKIN' AND GOLFIN' 5.4.10
our media team recently went down to the san diego bay to shoot some footage with pastor jurgen. the great thing about pastor jurgen is that anything and everything can happen, and when it does we want to capture it on film. while waiting to set up for the shoot, jurgen quickly grabbed his golf club and some golf balls and proceded to crush some shots into the san diego bay. we also caught jurgen practicing some of his pop-locking in between takes. enjoy!

EASTER ALSO LIKES TO PARTY OUTSIDE 4.29.10
our easter service this year was off the charts, but what makes it an "EXTRAVAGANZA" is our p-p-p-party that we have outside after the service! easter egg hunts, prize giveaways, mexican food, dunk tank, face painting, petting zoo, bouncy castles, velcro wall, and much more! big shoutout to the hundreds of volunteers that made this all happen with their tireless giving, friendliness, and big smiles.

click here to access the easter bunny photos. just type in the password on the card that was given to you at the easter bunny tent, find your picture, and click "download".

mucho thanks to our:
event photographers: nate + jaclyn kaiser
easter bunny photographer: james grissom
easter bunny picture hosting: julie cannon
can we offer you some of..... everything!!!
leg sized burrito + krispy kreme donut = THE LUNCH OF CHAMPIONS!
the one and only easter bunny was throwing high fives everywhere!
this is scott, he's one of our amazing volunteers...sadly scott was trampled to death by a raging hoard of children on the hunt for easter eggs....
...not even scott's patented moses-esque "hand-raised-over-the-sea-of-children" maneuver could hold back the force of an army of egg hunters...
...look at the intensity!!!! raaaawwwwrrrrr
jump . bounce . hop . repeat
no one has ever looked tougher wearing bunny ears!
dunk tank time!!! laser targeting system locked on...target acquired...
....target destroyed!
"the kids are going CRAZY for the velcro wall!!!"
sheep love charlize :)
fact: there has to be a game truck in heaven.

EASTER LIKES TO PARTY!!! 4.22.10
in the beginning was the easter, and the easter was with us, and the easter was AWESOME!!!

...ok, so that might not be completely scriptural but this years easter extravaganza was a force to be reckoned with! our 9am service before our easter service rocked so hard that it set off the fire alarms (no, really it did!). we had our biggest attendance for a sunday with over 1200 people coming to all three services. all the craziness and numbers aside, we also had dozens of people come forward after pastor jurgen's powerful message and give their lives to Christ.

our easter extravaganza brought so much awesome that we couldn't even put it in one blogpost. stay tuned next week for pics showing the easter festivities (ie: jumpy castles, dunk tanks, velcro wall, easter bunny and more)

ps. to those looking for the link for the easter bunny pics, it will be included in next week's post. so sorry = (
fog makes everything look ten times cooler. elle, faith, and rachel think so...
the dynamic duo of jurgs and leanne!!!
packed to the gills. we had people lined up outside listening to the message on couches and fold-out chairs.
the good 'ol easter bunny showed up with some scrumptious chocolate goodies.
while the grownups had big-people church, the kidz church was hippity hoppin and getting the kids riled up with live worship from our kidz church worship band, blue jello (currently touring with rick astley and flock of seagulls)
every week the kids get to watch a production put on by our kidz church volunteers that teaches about God, life, and being a kid.
as a little icing on the cake, we added the dynamic easter intro video that opened up the service. the last half of the song was actually done live by our worship team who easily transitioned the video straight into worship.

SUGAR AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE!!! 4.1.10
a few weeks ago all the c3 ladies headed down to the flower hills ultrastar cinemas to get their "girl" on for chick flick 2010! the place was jam packed with almost 200 dazzling ladies awaiting the showing of "the proposal" as they chatted away and enjoyed ice cream sundaes and buttery popcorn. the women also rallied together and donated carloads full of women's shoes, designer bags, clothes, and undergarments for a local crisis center in downtown san diego. pastor leanne and the team were stoked on the night and can't wait for our next cherish event coming up in july with lisa bevere!
the detonate ladies brought the "pop" with their energy and fun!
every woman needs a little something to hold them up
good thing these were for donations, otherwise there would've been a battle for these little numbers
I SCREAM YOU SCREAM...
...TRISH SCREAMS FOR ICE CREAM!
the evening was consumed with laughter as the dynamic stacy-duo tested the gals with their movie knowledge.
yvette williams was NOT gonna loose this one and took home the prize! a massage package that was indeed worth the fight.
here's the promo video for our cherish night with lisa bevere!!! register today!!!

STEAMING PILE OF MANFLESH 3.18.10
someone probably once said in the history of the world, "women like to gather, and men... well, men just don't want to get together and talk about their feelings."

this year the men of ccc traveled up to pali mountain for a men's conference that would've made even chuck norris proud! we were extremely privileged to have ps. john burns from relate church and jim crumbley along with the journey team from c3 atlanta. words really can't express the change that took place in the men during the two day conference so we won't even begin to try.

special shout-out to God for making all the snow as well as sending the gnarliest blizzard we've ever seen. thanks for keeping all our guys safe as we descended from the snowy peak. amen.

jim crumbley and co.
real dudes do pushups in the snow.
fifteen brave men with shields walking the snowball gauntlet of doom.
this wooden beam was aptly named "the beast" and represented the burdens that men bravely carry. throughout the whole conference, "the beast" could not be set on the ground or else jim crumbley would make you pay dearly!
the blind rope obstacle course was a phenomenal leadership, faith, and trust-building exercise.
"alright, who farted?"
ps. jurgen and the guys letting out a mighty shout!!!
ps. john burns brought the heat and delivered some powerful revelation on being a man in every facet of life.
some of the lads used their down time for a rousing game of disc golf. or as george castanza would call it "frolf".
the men wrote their burdens on "the beast" and then crossed them out which symbolized the fact that those burdens weren't theirs to carry anymore.
one of the sessions had the guys playing rugby. americans + rugby = chaos
the tire-hill drag was a true test of manliness. it looks easy until you realize that the snow is two feet deep and deviously given to collapsing as you run across it.
unfortunately, snowball throwing was not part of this exercise. we love you ps. jurgs!!!
this is mike. he's had a pretty gnarly past, but this weekend brought a massive change into his life. mike was given the "journey award" for the conference because of his attitude, character, and overall growth during the two days. ooh rah!!!
end of day. cold. wet... but changed forever and stoked to be together as brothers and family.

THE HEART OF A VOLUNTEER . PHIL PRINGLE 3.4.10
a few weeks ago, ps. jurgen and andrew bennett (our worship leader) were able to take our very own dr. phil pringle up to snow summit for a few days of fun on the slopes. we were able to grab a few minutes with him and chat about the purpose and heart of volunteering and the importance it is to our church. enjoy!

CCC INTERNS ARE THE COOLEST! 2010 INTERNS . PART 2 2.24.10
in the past few months we've added some pretty rad interns into the ccc world of fun!!!! our newest batch of "cool" is laurel copenbarger and ross snyder. laurel is bringing her friendliness and love for people to our connect ministries while ross ups the awesome factor for our worship + creative arts and volunteer teams. we're extremely excited to have them as part of our team and we know that the sky's the limit for these world-changers!!!
would you rather spend the rest of your life in an insanely cold climate or insanely hot climate?

LAUREL: definitely in an insanely cold climate. that way i could go outside and and play in the snow all bundled up and then go inside and drink hot chocolate and read a book by the fire. ah..... that sounds wonderful right now.

ROSS: insanely cold, sounds perfect for someone whos as hot blooded as me!

tell us something that most people wouldn't know about you...

LAUREL: most people would not know that i write poetry, and quite a bit of it! i won some awards (money ~ yay!) for poetry i entered into the king author literary magazine at my high school.

ROSS: i write poetry.

what is your favorite Christmas tradition?

LAUREL: i absolutely love Christmas morning with my family! we sleep in, and I cook breakfast, usually home-made waffles and hot chocolate. then we all make our way to the Christmas tree (still in our pajamas of course) and open presents in order of age, oldest to youngest, one at a time so that we can see what everyone got. (i LOVE my family!)

ROSS: being with the fam, and looking at all the blessings God has provided.

if chipotle had to battle taco bell and del taco in the octagon at the same time, who would emerge victorious?

LAUREL: well, I'd say that chipotle has the dance moves going on! sorry taco bell and el taco, i feel you dudes. i mean, i'm not trying to get all up in your grill, raise your roof or whatever, but you're just not as groovy. (cool lingo compliments of shrek) I'm a litlte biased...chipotle gives me free coupons in the mail...yum!

ROSS: chipotle! nothing in taco bell or del taco's arsenal could handle there 3lb burritos Would be like "fighting a tank with a bb gun!"

what do you do for a living? if you could/had to do something else, what would you do?

LAUREL: i build the church!! That is definitely all that I ever want to do.

ROSS: going to school to be a teacher, If i could/had to do something else id be a pelican.

what are your favorite top three movies of all time?

LAUREL:

1. the matrix
2. iron man
3. the chronicles of narnia

ROSS:

1. iron man
2 . top gun
3. any sean connery james bond movie

what is your favorite thing about interning at CCC?

LAUREL: i love being the church and seeing it grow from the insider's point of view. the best part is spending time with the C3 pastors and leaders and learning from them, they are the most incredible people on the face of the planet!!

ROSS: I would have to say the constant growth that takes place, in our relationships, our selfs, in our abilities, in God's abilities, in faith, in love and as a family.

snowboarding or skiing? surfing or bodyboarding? skateboarding or rollerblading?

LAUREL: i am a skier by nature (i've never snowboarded as of yet...anyone want to take me???) surfing of course...we are in san diego here! rollerblading by far! If I skateboard, I just fall right off...although it's only a couple inches off of the ground, it seems WAY too high for me to be standing on an "uncontrollable" moveable object!

ROSS: snowboarding for sure (sorry skiers, keep your TIPS up :) ), bodyboarding its takes you to such more personal level with the wave, rollerblading because you're not bound to something, so much more open to roam free!

CCC INTERNS ARE THE COOLEST! 2010 INTERNS . PART 1 1.28.10
in the past few months we've added some pretty rad interns into the ccc world of fun!!! we'll be profiling them here on the blog and first up are the fantabulous stefanie holmes and katie hairfield! stefanie is bringing her creative flare to the marketing + events team and katie is bringing the happy with the kidz church team...we're so excited to have them as part of the team!!!
would you rather spend the rest of your life in an insanely cold climate or insanely hot climate?

STEFANIE: depends on where the location of this insaneness (is that a word?) takes place, europe, beaches, I may stroll there to frolic on the sand, but to be honest at the end of the day I'd probably go with insanely cold if it involves snowboarding!

KATIE: i see that neither isn't an option. i guess either one would be fine, since i equally dislike them.

tell us something that most people wouldn't know about you...

STEFANIE: i IMPULSIVELY bought a moped 2yrs ago hoping it would inspire me to save for a harley davidson. sadly it didn't, rode it twice then it broke down. It's been sitting in my garage unfixed and I still don't have a harley davidson.

KATIE: i have 3 tattoos and 1 of them is the Jesus fish, with my baptism date inside, in the colors of CCC san diego's current logo. i also have a massive love for broccoli.

what is your favorite Christmas tradition?

STEFANIE: being I live in a different state then my family I get to pick and choose how i want to spend Christmas. It's been tough, but it's grown to be my favorite, and that is going to mammoth for the past 5 years on Christmas to shred snow on my snowboard!

KATIE: when i lived in texas, we had this massive house that I would decorate with lights inside and out. my grandpa gave me a budget and I would design the layout for it every year.

if chipotle had to battle taco bell and del taco in the octagon at the same time, who would emerge victorious?

STEFANIE: chipotle would utterly dominate. period.

KATIE: i'd root for chipotle but taco bell would probably take down both. they just got that processed edge.

what do you do for a living? if you could/had to do something else, what would you do?

STEFANIE: i'm a waitress at a restaurant on the beach. there's never a dull moment in my "if I could/would/do" vocabulary. i've given up on wanting to be super women & a pro snowboarder. so at this point of my life I would love to be molded by God, taught by the amazing leaders at C3 san diego, and then be released into the communities locally and internationally to bring hope, love, and teachings of Jesus to people.

KATIE: i work for starbucks and a children's dance studio. it's not meant to be a career just a stepping stone.

what are your favorite top three movies of all time?

STEFANIE: To be honest I can't remember what I did yesterday let alone remember what my favorite movies are...hmmmm...

1. Avatar
2. Good Fellas
3. Role Models

KATIE: i don't really like to watch movies. i do, however, prefer to watch Hitch or Beauty and the Beast, if given the choice.

what is your favorite thing about interning at CCC?

STEFANIE:
1. hands down, homework
2. building relationships with and learning from the remarkable staff and pastors of C3 san diego
3. getting to learn the operations of what goes into building a church, and being part of pastor jurgen and pastor leanne's vision!

KATIE: the challenges. i'm always up for a good challenge.

snowboarding or skiing? surfing or bodyboarding? skateboarding or rollerblading?

STEFANIE: ha, skiing?, when pigs fly, SNOWBOARDING.. Surfing if it involves a kite, let the kite do most of the work, skateboarding if I don't break my arm again.

KATIE: snowboarding. surfing. skateboarding.
