LORA + RENE = A DOUBLE SHOT OF EXTRAORDINARY!!! 10.7.09
we're putting together a combo blog because two are always better than one, and because rene and lora are such giving and amazing people!!! rene was our august volunteer of the month and is the volunteer coordinator for our resource table. She is a "do-whatever-needs-to-be-done" type of person who is always going above and beyond the status quo. Her attitude and willingness to help really make her shine!!

lora is our september volunteer of the month and is one of the team leaders who heads up our guest lounge and whose job every sunday is to make anyone new to ccc feel right at home, welcomed, and loved! she puts heart in everything she does and it’s apparent that she works not to just do a job, but she believes in this church and wants to see lives impacted! if we only had 200 more lora's and rene's in our church...our awesome-meter would definitely be like a gabillion!!!

thanks so much lora and rene for all you do and for what you bring to ccc! it's people like you that make our church the best that it can be!!!

Mission to Ecuador 2009 9.28.09
last week a group of six from our church set out to ecuador with the unified goal and vision to bring the love of God to those that need it. they also brought along with them boxes full of goodies for the children of an orphan home. the team was able to partner with bob and lauren capaldi of verbo church and so far they've already seen many impacted as well as healings and miracles. continue to pray for our team during the remainder of this missions trip and for safety as they fly back home later this week.

MATT+MIKALA (connect groups-o-rama) 9.24.09
our CONNECT GROUPS here at CCC have some of the awesomest people on the planet stepping up and leading small groups all over san diego! here's a quick glimpse at the amazing matt and mikala hubbard...

you couldn't ask for a greater couple than matt and mikala to be part of your church!!! they've been with C3 san diego since the very beginning and are constantly stepping up to serve and share their maaaaaaaaaany gifts with all the people of C3. matt is one of the top crack-a-lackin chiropractors here in san diego and has a "yet-to-be" diagnosed condition of always oozing positivity :) the gorgeous mikala runs the lounge san diego which they have graciously opened up to C3 for events like our rednecks vs. rockstars and the poker night to benefit global support mission. if you're looking to join a connect group and inject a weekly dose of awesomeness in your life, check out matt and mikala's connect group down in mission valley!!!
what do each of you do for a living? if you had to do something else, what would it be?
MATT - chiropractor...but I have always wanted to be a NASCAR driver.
MIKALA - event manager...if I had to do something else i would be a TV Newscaster.

the best movie of all time is _______?
the princess bride

matt, what's the one thing everyone should know about mikala?
she sniffs/smells everything!

mikala, what's the one thing everyone should know about matt?
Hmmmm... he's not ALWAYS full of energy and positivity!

if twitter and facebook were placed in the octogon, who would you be rooting for to emerge victorious?
TWITTER HANDS DOWN! BUT then Mikala would have to fight Twitter for Matt's attention!

do you have a phobia of anything?
No phobias in this household...

what is your favorite thing about leading a connect group?
MATT - connecting w/ friends and people, and getting newbies plugged in to the awesomeness of the C3 culture!
MIKALA - I love the mid week opportunity to get re-dipped. hanging with awesome people is always fun, and most of the time it gets pretty interesting!

POKER NIGHT FOR MISSIONS
a few weeks ago matt and mikala opened up the lounge san diego for a night of fun, food, and poker to benefit our AMAZING friends at GLOBAL SUPPORT MISSION. the poker night raised almost enough money to help build a box well in buronzi, uganda which will supply fresh, clean water to hundreds of villagers!!! a HUGE thanks to matt and mikala for organizing this awesome event and opening up their space to help make a difference!!! here's some snaps from the poker night...

raise your goblet of ROCK!!!! 9.18.09
a few weeks ago the gauntlet was thrown down when our college students got together for an all out war of karaoke, costumes, and craziness!!! it was a battle of vocals with the rednecks and rockers kicking it at the lounge in downtown san diego. the night featured loud music, singing offkey, prizes, italian sodas, blood, sweat, tears, and a guest appearance by lynyrd skynyrd and cher. no one could've predicted the craziness that ensued!

warning!!! seeing these pictures might cause you to rock out uncontrollably or break into linedancing. we take no responsibility for either.

the beatbox boys showed off their extensive knowledge of dance moves....dang gina!!!
rocker rookie was the mc for the evening, and easily wins best costume....and best smile!!!
umm...are those tears of joy?
fall out boy showed up and graced us with their gloriousness
lynyrd skynyrd. boom, that just happened!

el Quattro de Magnifico!!! 8.31.09
recently we celebrated our FOURTH BIRTHDAY here at ccc and what a massive day it was! it was inspiring to see what God has done in just a few short years and exciting to know that the best is yet to come! the gauntlet of awesome was thrown down as the day featured yum-tastic birthday cupcakes, phil dooley from hillsong cape town, the c3 dance crew, house red, and a surprise to remember.

We've also put some icing on the cupcake (so to speak...) by giving you a glimpse back at our first four years in san diego!

ps. phil dooley was off-the-charts to say the least. we were so honored to have him with us, and his message couldn't have been more relevant for our church!
they danced, they grooved, they straight-up brought it!

this one time at summer camp... 8.27.09
this summer, the detonate crew headed out to lake havasu for an amazing week that left a permanent scar of epicness on their lives! five days were consumed with wake boarding, inner tubing, jet skiing, swimming, cliff diving, volleyball, and water balloon fights. if the sun was shining, the crew was enjoying everything havasu had to offer. then in the evening, david and briana chiddick tore the place apart with amazing messages and powerful prayer. not one kid was left unchanged or not ablaze with a passion to change the world!
Brant was daring enough to risk his body and swap tubes in the middle of the ride. The boat reaching 35mph, he hoped from one tube to the next without loosing any limbs.
Gnarley tubing battles went down with the High School boys trying to show off their muscles.
"Lance the Man" was head skipper for the Malibu. Running a tight ship, but always cracking jokes and keeping everything always fun!
On the first night, before service started, 4 kids were brave enough to take the Coke challenge. Ryan Taylor (H.S. Boys), Kelly (H.S. Girls) Jena (Jr High Girls), and Ryan (Jr High Boys) each had a 2L bottle of Coke that was to be consumed as fast as possible to win the ultimate prize of Starbucks for their room.

Jr High Boys won!!!
MAN DOWN!!! Jono was nailed and lied on the ground in self defense during an epic water balloon fight.
Yes Ross, alo vera soothes the burn on your nose
Not sure, but I think Ross has the advantage
Waiting for service to start + beautiful sunset + H.S. Girls = perfect photo time
Who gave brant a Megaphone?!
Let your eyes rest and and feast on this bad boy...Nikkis dads boat was the king of the lake, and we rode in style.

Thank you Lynn family for all you did!!! Your kindness wasn't forgotten.
last day, headed home, and were still wired! Can't wait to see what DETONATE has in store next time.

a breakdance to remember! 8.24.09
our C3 dance crew put on a show for our 4th Birthday here at ccc san diego, but no one could predict what would happen midway through the dance. as the bass was thumping, our very own pastor jurgen popped out from behind the stage to join the team and break out some of the sickest dance moves! needless to say he brought down the house. it will be a 4th birthday to remember!
