CHERISH . awaken! 7.30.09
last week almost 300 awesomely-beautiful women flooded in to the hilton garden inn, san diego for our 2nd cherish night of 2009! the excitement level was through the roof as women from all over southern california lined up in anticipation for the ballroom doors to open. we literally maxed the place out...like they were pulling chairs and seating from all over the hotel just to fit everyone!!! praise & worship was incredible as always & our awesome guest speaker all the way from australia, vicki simpson brought a real and powerful now word on identity. we were so excited to meet so many new faces and share the usual cherish goodness with so many new friends. the women left with a new, fresh, and confident knowledge of who they are!

make sure you register to reserve a seat for the love conference in october!
All the ladies swarmed at the chance to fill boxes of gifts for our team to take with them on our missions trip to ecuador later this year! These ten kids are going to be flooded with gifts come september! :)
It's a walk off!!! It's a walk off!!! It's a walk off!!!
the AAAAAAAAAMAZING powerhouse Vicki Simpson!!!
A special thanks to all of the lovely ladies for joining us and extra special hugs and high fives to all of the fantastic volunteers who came together to make this night happen!

CHAD + JULIE (connect groups-o-rama) 7.23.09
our CONNECT GROUPS here at CCC have some of the awesomest people on the planet stepping up and leading small groups all over san diego! You can't find two cooler people than the radtastical chad and julie cannon who lead a thriving connect group at their home in north san diego county. not only are they the coolest duet since sonny and cher, but chad rocks an amazing job representing christian speakers and julie is an awesome photographer as well...in fact many of the images you've admired on this very blog are taken by julie! thanks chad and julie for all that you are and all that you do...you are a truly valuable and amazing part of our church!!!
here's a few little questions to get to know Chad and Julie...

Which fast food restaurant, in your opinion, makes the best fries?

Julie: My answer to this question can be found below in this compelling and assuredly accurate piece of research.
FACT - Research, conducted sometime in the fast food era shows that 26% of adults 18 or older have dipped WENDY’S French fries into a Frosty, or know someone who has.

What is one piece of advice that was one of the best you’ve ever received?

Julie: Most recently I heard that the only three “f words” that are important in life are faith, family and friends. That is fundamentally sound advice.,/i>

What is something that makes you cringe?

Julie: In the eloquent words of Brick Tamland, “LOUD NOISES”!...P.S. This is a blatant Anchorman reference for those who may be lost :)

Do you wake up easily in the morning or require coffee, exercise, or something else to get you going?

Chad: I’m one of the only few SoCal non-coffee drinkers it feels like at times. Let’s just say you don’t want to see me on coffee. I’d be bouncing off the walls more than I already do.

If you had a choice of birthday cakes, what kind would you want someone to make for you?

Chad: Without a doubt, Ice Cream Cake. It’s the best thing since Cracker Jacks!

What is your favorite thing about leading a connect group?

Chad: Besides dominating at Catch Phrase, it’s amazing be a part of the church family. I love seeing people grow and develop both in their faith and all other aspects of life.

FATHER LOVING! 7.2.09
here at CCC, we strive to honor our fathers in the holiest of holy ways...a good old fashioned gut busting food devouring contest! it might be a testament to our father's determination (or forgetfulness) that every year people still jump up for any "games" pastor jurgen comes up with for father's day :) this year he left the vegemite at home and went all american with a big mac, fries, and a large coke from mcdonalds. the challenge: whoever could devour their whole meal the fastest would be awarded with a gift certificate for a dinner for two at ruth's chris.

lee and john sloooooowly realizing what they were in for as pastor jurgen explained the rules...
...and they're off!
to call this a contest would be a huge overstatement, wayne DOMINATED!!! he had finished a large fry, a big mac, and a large coke before the other dads even finished the fries! we had to pull him back out of fear that he might consume the table!
for good measure, wayne even dipped his big mac in his coke...mmmmmmm :)
after the battle of the stomachs, it was on the the battle of the braun and wills! three dads, all holding a push up in the down position...who would last the longest?!?!
chris made a valiant effort but eventually fell to the captain america-esqe strength of scott!
VICTORY!!!!
WE LOVE YOU DADS!!!

What is your favorite thing about CCC?
I love how different it is from every other church. It's so refreshing! All the preaching is relevant; sometimes I feel like I'm in a live comedy show! It's great and makes you want to be there! I also really appreciate the recognition of youth. Teens are our future, and so many people don't realize that!
