every summer we have a night specifically for our cherish ladies and this year we were honored to have lisa bevere with us for this memorable night! with almost 300 ladies in attendance, the place was packed and the air was electric with anticipation even before we opened the doors to let all the beautiful ladies in. from the powerful praise + worship to the fabulously extravagant giveaways the night was setup for success even before lisa got up to speak.
with all that being said, lisa's message was so inspiring and just her presence and the way she was able to relate to the women really brought the night to another level. ps. leanne and the cherish team did such a great job and the lives impacted are a true testament to that.
don't miss out on our cherish conference coming up in october. check out the promo video at the bottom of this post, and click here for more info.
every year at ccc, we have a month fully devoted to our rise & build campaign. pastor jurgen's theme for this year was "the time has come" and each week's message focused on sacrifice, vision, and building the future. the month culminated on rise & build sunday where everyone was able to make their pledge and give into the vision of our church for 2010 and 2011.
once the service ended, everyone flooded outside for a celebration party with catered authentic mexican food, a jousting ring, a carnival tea-cup ride, free massages by massage envy, and jerry "hot rod" demink and his band performing live. it was definitely a day of celebration as everyone toasted (with apple cider) and thanked God as we saw over $800,000 pledged so far. we're definitely excited for what God's going to do through ccc and reaching san diego with the hope of salvation!
big thanks to all our volunteers who gave of their time and effort to make this an unforgettable day. thanks as well to our event photographer, julie cannon.
'round and 'round we go. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
who wants boring food when you can have your taco constructed before your eyes in a dazzling, acrobatical fashion?
big shoutout to massage envy for their tension-releasing magicalness! it was like five minutes in heaven...
jerry and his band doin' their thang!
groowwrrrr. *believe it or not, jerry wears the helmet so he can stand on his head and shred the guitar at the same time. it was very hendrix-esque.
thanks to all those who gave into our rise & build this year. we salute you!
SUPERCALIFRAGALISTICEXPEALID-AWESOME!!! live band, puppet shows, full-on production with actors and props, and most important - GOD! these are just a few of the things that you'll find every week at our kidz church. we were able to snap some spiffy photos on easter sunday and catch a little glimpse into the crazy world of ccc kidz! enjoy!
blue jello, the kidz church worship band, whips everyone into a jumping frenzy while at the same time helping the kids release a little bit of their wiggles.
jesse is a drum legend
every week, kidz church has skits and puppet shows that are based around a character theme (ie. the flintstones, robin hood, james bond, back to the future, indiana jones, etc.). this curriculum allows the kids to learn about God and biblical characteristics in a fun and entertaining way.
this is hudson. he will one day be the greatest male model in the world. but for now he melts faces with his iresistable cuteness.
our easter service this year was off the charts, but what makes it an "EXTRAVAGANZA" is our p-p-p-party that we have outside after the service! easter egg hunts, prize giveaways, mexican food, dunk tank, face painting, petting zoo, bouncy castles, velcro wall, and much more! big shoutout to the hundreds of volunteers that made this all happen with their tireless giving, friendliness, and big smiles.
click here to access the easter bunny photos. just type in the password on the card that was given to you at the easter bunny tent, find your picture, and click "download".
in the beginning was the easter, and the easter was with us, and the easter was AWESOME!!!
...ok, so that might not be completely scriptural but this years easter extravaganza was a force to be reckoned with! our 9am service before our easter service rocked so hard that it set off the fire alarms (no, really it did!). we had our biggest attendance for a sunday with over 1200 people coming to all three services. all the craziness and numbers aside, we also had dozens of people come forward after pastor jurgen's powerful message and give their lives to Christ.
our easter extravaganza brought so much awesome that we couldn't even put it in one blogpost. stay tuned next week for pics showing the easter festivities (ie: jumpy castles, dunk tanks, velcro wall, easter bunny and more)
ps. to those looking for the link for the easter bunny pics, it will be included in next week's post. so sorry = (
fog makes everything look ten times cooler. elle, faith, and rachel think so...
the dynamic duo of jurgs and leanne!!!
packed to the gills. we had people lined up outside listening to the message on couches and fold-out chairs.
the good 'ol easter bunny showed up with some scrumptious chocolate goodies.
while the grownups had big-people church, the kidz church was hippity hoppin and getting the kids riled up with live worship from our kidz church worship band, blue jello (currently touring with rick astley and flock of seagulls)
every week the kids get to watch a production put on by our kidz church volunteers that teaches about God, life, and being a kid.
as a little icing on the cake, we added the dynamic easter intro video that opened up the service. the last half of the song was actually done live by our worship team who easily transitioned the video straight into worship.
someone probably once said in the history of the world, "women like to gather, and men... well, men just don't want to get together and talk about their feelings."
this year the men of ccc traveled up to pali mountain for a men's conference that would've made even chuck norris proud! we were extremely privileged to have ps. john burns from relate church and jim crumbley along with the journey team from c3 atlanta. words really can't express the change that took place in the men during the two day conference so we won't even begin to try.
special shout-out to God for making all the snow as well as sending the gnarliest blizzard we've ever seen. thanks for keeping all our guys safe as we descended from the snowy peak. amen.
jim crumbley and co.
real dudes do pushups in the snow.
fifteen brave men with shields walking the snowball gauntlet of doom.
this wooden beam was aptly named "the beast" and represented the burdens that men bravely carry. throughout the whole conference, "the beast" could not be set on the ground or else jim crumbley would make you pay dearly!
the blind rope obstacle course was a phenomenal leadership, faith, and trust-building exercise.
"alright, who farted?"
ps. jurgen and the guys letting out a mighty shout!!!
ps. john burns brought the heat and delivered some powerful revelation on being a man in every facet of life.
some of the lads used their down time for a rousing game of disc golf. or as george castanza would call it "frolf".
the men wrote their burdens on "the beast" and then crossed them out which symbolized the fact that those burdens weren't theirs to carry anymore.
one of the sessions had the guys playing rugby. americans + rugby = chaos
the tire-hill drag was a true test of manliness. it looks easy until you realize that the snow is two feet deep and deviously given to collapsing as you run across it.
unfortunately, snowball throwing was not part of this exercise. we love you ps. jurgs!!!
this is mike. he's had a pretty gnarly past, but this weekend brought a massive change into his life. mike was given the "journey award" for the conference because of his attitude, character, and overall growth during the two days. ooh rah!!!
end of day. cold. wet... but changed forever and stoked to be together as brothers and family.
being a church and all, when it's our main man Jesus's birthday, we go all out!!! a couple weeks ago we put on our fourth annual chrissie bash to celebrate Christmas in true aussie fashion! the music was off the hook, the kids production was adorable, and the snacks and goodies were scrumptious :) a very special thanks to the dozens of volunteers who put in hundreds of hours to make the night so special for our church!
thomas rocked out a performance of "the little drummer boy" with an amazing drum solo by taylor, josiah, and jessie!
the Christmas production this year brought everything to a whole new level! the message, the acting, the props, the sets, the costume, the cute kids...it was all stepped up to a new level of awesome!
matt stack...working hard for his oscar nod :)
charlize, the little bumblebee who stole the whole show :) :) :)
santa even stopped by for pictures and brought along a huge sack filled with presents for all the kids!
back in november we had this crazy idea to have an a+ volunteer dinner....on a boat....in the san diego harbor! everyone came dressed to the nines and ready to party! this whole night was all about honoring all the superb volunteers who serve every single sunday. church really wouldn't be "church" without the almost 300 volunteers that make everything happen week in and week out and this was our way of saying "thank you"!!
special thanks to our event photographer john mediana!
a few weeks back we had a "journey day" with jim crumbley from c3 atlanta. our staff, team, and key leaders in our church all showed up at sunny mission bay park for a day that they will soon not forget! the mantra for this day was "one vision, one focus, one heart" and every single person played a key role in every activity and role-playing scenario. from moving a massive pile of cinder blocks to passing tires from person to person in a race pitting one team against the other, every exercise and activity instilled a stronger sense of leadership, team-building, and passion for God's house!
we were so thankful to have jim with us and we can't wait until he comes again for our next "journey day" in 2010! for all you men out there, jim will be with us for our emerge conference EMPOWER at pali mountian coming up in march. check out the online promo video for it, and stay tuned for more info and when to register!!!
the "amazing andeeno" getting his flex on and powering up for a massive day!
this little exercise was all about communication and strategy....or as some called it, "how-many-people-can-touch-john-day's-butt"
moving cinder blocks is HARD!!!
...making a cinder block bridge is even harder!!!
BOOM!!! mission accomplished
we ended the day a little soggier than usual, but everyone that came out had a blast and learned more about themselves, each other, and the vision of our church!!! OOOOHRAAAAHHH!!!
our first ever c3 golf classic was a huge success and, using golf terminology, a hole-in-one!!!! we had a great turnout for this event and not only was it a smashingly fun day, but our main focus was to raise support and awareness for the a21 campaign and aids orphans in africa. from the prizes and contests to the golf tourney and awards banquet, everyone had a blast playing the game they love most.
we were honored to have john bevere join in on the festivities and throw down a mean game of golf, but that didn't stop the teams from getting super-competitive and going head to head, with our winning team being led by the fearless mike clark. suffice to say that the day was a huge hit and we're already planning and preparing for next years c3 golf classic.
